BERGEN OP ZOOM, The Netherlands – November 6, 2009 – SABIC Innovative Plastics’ tough, lightweight Noryl* GTX resin was recognized today for its key role in helping General Motors (GM) 1987 MY Buick® LeSabre® T-Type fenders win the coveted Hall of Fame Award from the Automotive Division of the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE®). Presented to GM for the sports coupe fenders, the award is given annually to an iconic and innovative application that has been in continuous use for more than 15 years, delivered a value proposition that could not be met by traditional materials, and has been broadly adopted within the automotive or ground-transportation industries. The Hall of Fame Award will be presented to GM in Livonia, Mich. on Nov. 12, 2009 at the 39th annual SPE Innovation Awards Gala. The SPE Automotive Innovation Awards Competition is the oldest and largest recognition event in the automotive and plastics industries.

· Sales in Q3 down 14% in local currency and 19% in CHF
· Operating income before exceptional items decreased to CHF 107 million from CHF 178 million in the third quarter 2008, but improved from CHF 69 million in the second quarter 2009
· Cash flow from operations improved to CHF 193 million from CHF 147 million in the previous-year period
· Net debt reduced to CHF 751 million from CHF 1 209 million at year-end 2008
· Outlook: For the full year 2009, Clariant expects sales in local currencies to decrease 16-20% compared to 2008. Cash flow is expected to remain strong as a result of ongoing stringent net working capital management. In the traditionally weak fourth quarter, Clariant expects an improved operating income before exceptional items compared to the fourth quarter of 2008

Geleen, 03 November 2009 – Following the introduction of a developmental grade earlier this year, DSM Elastomers has now officially launched Keltan® 8642A, a fast curing, high green strength ENB grade with very good filler and plasticizer acceptance. The new grade is particularly suitable for extrusion and molding applications with high level of fillers, such as solid sealing systems.

Stuttgart, Germany - October 30th, 2009 - At a joint press conference held during the Composites Europe show, a breakthrough in direct compounding technology – from raw materials to composites and parts - was presented that is set to extend the production of thermoset composites into high volume, complex and large parts and open up new market opportunities for composite applications that are not feasible with today’s thermoset processing technologies.
