Düsseldorf, Germany – October 24, 2007 – At K 2007, Rhodia Polyamide is presenting its TECHNYL® XCell 6.6 and 6 polyamide grades optimised for the MuCell® Process. These new grades are the first technology deliverables from Rhodia as part of its recently signed global co-marketing and development agreement with Trexel Inc. As partners to the agreement, Rhodia actively develops and commercialises new material technology optimised for the MuCell® Process, and Trexel works exclusively with Rhodia for polyamide applications.

TIELT, BELGIUM – October, 2007 – Quadrant Creative Moulding & Systems (Quadrant CMS) of Tielt, Belgium, working in close co-operation with Tier-1 automotive supplier Autoliv, has developed a polymer passenger airbag housing for the new Fiat 500, which was launched in May this year to commemorate 50 years since the birth of the first edition in 1957. The housing is moulded in impact-modified Akulon® Polyamide 6 with 40 percent glass-fibre reinforcement from DSM.

Düsseldorf, Germany – Oct. 24, 2007 – As part of SABIC Innovative Plastics’ accelerating investments in new application and market development, the company today announced the creation of a new Energy Center of Excellence at the company’s European headquarters in Bergen op Zoom, The Netherlands. The new facility, an expansion of SABIC Innovative Plastics’ existing Fluid Engineering Center of Excellence and part of the company’s Global Application Technology (GApT) organization, aims to help customers use lightweight, high-performance thermoplastics to replace heavy and increasingly costly copper, aluminum, steel, and glass in thermal and photovoltaic solar panels. The center is equipped with leading edge design, molding, and testing equipment, and is staffed by engineers, materials scientists, and application development experts, to help customers utilize the latest in advanced thermoplastic technologies for the mass production of solar panels. SABIC Innovative Plastics’ goal is to be a major contributor in making solar energy for heating and electricity a practical and continuously more affordable option.
