GE Plastics’ high-performance composites and thermoplastics are taking the spotlight with close to 30 diverse applications for Hyundai’s advanced technology demonstration vehicle (ATDV), the QarmaQ. The crossover utility vehicle (CUV) is a joint project of GE Plastics and Hyundai to demonstrate the design freedom and practicality of using plastics in components traditionally manufactured from metal, glass, and thermosets. It features GE’s advanced technologies in five key areas: the Elastic Front*, exterior, interior, lighting systems, and underhood.

GENEVA — March 6, 2007 — At the Geneva International Motor Show today, Hyundai Motor Co. and GE Plastics presented QarmaQ, a first in the Crossover Coupe segment. QarmaQ is Hyundai's Advanced Technology Demonstration Vehicle (ATDV) that showcases over 30 different environmentally progressive technologies led by the innovative “Elastic Front*”, an innovative solution that can help reduce the risk of severe injuries in Crossover Utility Vehicles (CUV) pedestrian collisions.

PITTSBURGH, Feb. 20, 2007 – PPG Industries (NYSE: PPG) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with ICI India Ltd., Mumbai, India, to facilitate the acquisition of ICI’s premium automotive refinish business. Upon closing, the business would be acquired by Asian PPG Industries Ltd., a 50 percent joint venture of PPG and Asian Paints Ltd., also of Mumbai. The closing is scheduled for mid-March and is subject to certain conditions. The transaction is valued at approximately $12 million.

Gent, Belgium – March 5th, 2007 - The Sumitomo Bakelite Group announces the acquisition of Neopreg AG, a Swiss producer of long fiber thermoset composites marketed under the trade names Kinel and Neonite. Neopreg, based in Gelterkinden, has unique technology for producing these composites that complements technologies used by Sumitomo’s existing specialty composites business. Neopreg will be integrated into Vyncolit N.V., Sumitomo’s subsidiary that produces moldable composites in Europe, but will retain its name. Henny van Dijk, President of Vyncolit N.V., has assumed leadership since February 19, 2007.

Feb. 25 2007, PPG Industries, the world's leading manufacturer of coatings, glass and chemicals, held a ground breaking ceremony in Zhangjiagang and plans to build up the first resin plant in China. The Party Secretary, mayor and chief officers of Zhangjiagang government as well as officers from Zhangjiagang bonded area attended the ceremony and highly appraised the scope and technologies of PPG.

Feb. 12, 2007 – PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG), a world leading coatings, glass and chemicals manufacturer, has recently announced record fourth quarter and full year sales for 2006. Sales in the fourth quarter were $2.8 billion, surpassing fourth quarter 2005 record sales by 11 percent. For all of 2006, PPG recorded annual sales of 11 billion and net income of $711 million.
