University of Maastricht and SABIC focus on talent
Sittard, the Netherlands – October 24, 2011 – On October 21, Hristina Dzharova (27), a student at the University of Maastricht, received the SABIC Scholarship for the academic year, 2011-2012. The scholarship worth € 10 600 is awarded every year to a promising and internationally focused student. Mary McCarthy, European Recruiting & Staffing Leader at SABIC presented the scholarship to Ms Dzharova at SABIC’s offices in Sittard.

SABIC’s latest polypropylenes to run on high performance injection moulding processes at Fakuma
Sittard, the Netherlands – October 18, 2011 – Visitors to this year’s Fakuma plastics exhibition (Friedrichshafen, Germany, October 18-22) will have an opportunity to see several of SABIC’s latest polypropylenes running on different injection moulding machines of its machine manufacturing partners, producing thin-walled packaging and medical components. The grades presented at Fakuma are supplied on a global scale from our facilities in Europe, Saudi Arabia and Asia.

BERGEN OP ZOOM, The Netherlands – September 28, 2011 – SABIC’s Innovative Plastics strategic business unit today announced that ResMed – a global leader in medical products for treating and managing respiratory disorders – has selected Cycoloy* and Lexan* resins to enhance the performance, aesthetics and sustainability of the new ResMed S9™ series of sleep apnea devices. SABIC’s Cycoloy polycarbonate/acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (PC/ABS) resin, featuring non-halogenated flame retardance and high flow, is used to mold the complex, thin-wall S9™ chassis. Lexan resin, a tough, biocompatible material with exceptional surface finish, is used for the S9™ top case and H5i™ humidifier flip lid. Both materials helped ResMed create a sleek design and outstanding aesthetics for consumer appeal. The next-generation ResMed S9™ device series demonstrates how SABIC’s broad and growing portfolio of high-performance materials and value-added services help healthcare customers create new, innovative technologies.

A SABIC megerősíti helyi jelenlétét és ügyfeleinek nyújtott támogatását, országos szintű vezetője kijelölésével Magyarországon
A hollandiai, Sittardban – 2011. szeptember 27. – a SABIC kijelölte országos szintű vezetőit szerte Európában, hogy elérhetővé tegye ügyfelei számára azokat az előnyöket, amelyeket a SABIC globális tőkéje és helyi szakértelme jelent. Nyéki Anikó nemrégiben lett kinevezve Magyarország országos szintű vezetőjévé, amely kinevezés kapcsolódik azon célunkhoz, hogy szorosabb együttműködést alakítsunk ki a SABIC üzleti és értékesítési tevékenységei között a poliolefinek (polimer üzleti tevékenység) és a hőre lágyuló műszaki műanyagok terén. Sittard, the Netherlands – 27 September 2011 – SABIC has appointed Country Leaders across Europe to ensure that customers take full advantage of SABIC’s global assets and local expertise. Recently, Michael Allen was appointed as the Country Leader in the UK; this appointment is connected to our aim to establish a closer cooperation between SABIC’s business and sales operations in polyolefins (Polymers business) and engineering thermoplastics. The new structure will ensure a common approach that will be focused on supporting the needs of local markets and customers.

Sittard, Holanda – 27 september 2011 – SABIC ha nombrado Country Leaders en todos los países de Europa donde tiene oficinas de ventas para que los clientes puedan aprovechar al máximo tanto los activos mundiales de la empresa como su experiencia local. El Country Leader nombrado recientemente para España es Daniel Gambús. Este nombramiento se ha llevado a cabo con la intención de establecer una colaboración más estrecha entre las unidades de negocio y las oficinas de ventas de poliolefinas (unidad de Polímeros), termoplásticos de ingeniería y productos químicos. SABIC to Join Automotive Innovation Joint Venture INPRO
BERLIN, Germany – September 7, 2011 – Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) announced in Berlin today that it has entered into an agreement to purchase an equity stake in INPRO, a joint venture dedicated to collaborative innovation in automotive production. SABIC will join Daimler, Siemens, ThyssenKrupp and Volkswagen as equity owners in the group. The Federal State of Berlin has also held shares in INPRO since its founding in 1983. SABIC comes to the JV with 45 years’ experience as a leading industry pioneer in automotive engineering plastics material technologies and application development, primarily through the dedicated automotive division of its Innovative Plastics strategic business unit, and will fully participate in INPRO’s joint innovation projects. Joining the INPRO JV reflects SABIC’s decades-long record of proactive engagement with the industry to advance lightweight material innovation across the world and to help OEM customers solve some of their most critical challenges.

Solar Shading Panels Using SABIC’s Lexan* Sheet Supports City of Westminster College’s Sustainability and Energy Efficiency Goals
BERGEN OP ZOOM, The Netherlands – September 8, 2011 – New solar shading panels made from lightweight, durable Lexan* Exell* D polycarbonate (PC) sheet from SABIC’s Innovative Plastics strategic business unit, are making a major contribution to energy efficiency and comfort at the new flagship City of Westminster College in central London. The high-performance panels filter out direct sunlight to minimize solar gain and glare on computer screens. They also admit generous amounts of natural light and are expected to significantly reduce building energy requirements, and maintenance and lifespan costs. SABIC’s ongoing investment in environmentally responsible materials for the global building and construction industry is helping customers meet their sustainability goals with new eco-progressive products.
