SABIC Innovative Plastics’ Eco-Engineered Flexible Noryl* Resin Wired for Success with Top Performance Properties for LTK’s AWM Applications
BERGEN OP ZOOM, The Netherlands – October 23, 2009 – SABIC Innovative Plastics has announced that LTK Industries, a leading Hong Kong-based wire and cable OEM and long-term customer, is driving the use of SABIC Innovative Plastics’ eco-progressive Flexible Noryl* resin into appliance wiring material (AWM) applications used in consumer electronics. The advanced flame-retardant (FR) resin passes the stringent Underwriters Laboratories (UL) VW-1 flame test, and is helping manufacturers like LTK meet tough global requirements for halogen-free parts while delivering a virtually perfect balance of exceptional high-performance properties. By upgrading from polyvinyl chloride (PVC) – which can release hazardous toxins when burned – to Flexible Noryl resin, LTK has further strengthened its position as a leading global provider of wire and cable solutions.

SABIC Innovative Plastics’ Eco-Progressive FR Noryl* Resin Helps Vestel’s Washing Machines Nail New IEC Compliance Standard
BERGEN OP ZOOM, The Netherlands – August 27, 2009 – Vestel White Goods has chosen SABIC Innovative Plastics’ flame-retardant (FR) Noryl* NH6020 resin – which complies with the new, tougher requirements of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 60355 standard for unattended appliances – to ensure its washing machines are competitive in the global arena. Vestel, one of Turkey’s leading appliance manufacturers, replaced a halogenated FR polyamide with Noryl NH6020 resin for printed circuit board holders to meet the new IEC requirements without the use of chlorinated or brominated FR additives. Further, using this innovative material enables Vestel to improve part quality and reduce scrap to lower system costs. Exatec* Glazing Shifts into High-Gear Production of Protective Shields Based on SABIC Innovative Plastics’ Tough Lexan* Sheet for the TTC
CHICAGO – June 22, 2009 – Today at NPE 2009, SABIC Innovative Plastics introduced a new, high-tech shield to enhance the protection of transit operators in Toronto. This new high-value operator protection is made of Lexan* sheet and coated with the Exatec* E900 advanced plasma technology at Exatec’s facility in Wixom, Mich. The combined high impact strength and optical clarity of Lexan sheet and the excellent abrasion resistance of the Exatec coating, led the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) to equip its fleet with new shields to help prevent assaults on TTC operators, which average one per day. SABIC Innovative Plastics Wins Dutch Responsible Care Award for Innovative Valox* and Xenoy iQ* Resins Product Portfolio
BERGEN OP ZOOM, The Netherlands – June 5, 2009 – The Association of the Dutch Chemical Industry (VNCI), presented SABIC Innovative Plastics with the Responsible Care Award 2009 yesterday, during the VNCI annual meeting in The Hague. The company was honored for its efforts in developing a polybutylene terephtalate (PBT) based product portfolio using discarded polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic, usually found in disposable materials like drinking bottles. The material, using a proprietary process, consumes less energy and yields less carbon dioxide (CO2) through its entire manufacturing process compared to traditional resins.
