NatureWorks LLC announces north american 'Buy Back' program for post-consumer bottles made from NatureWorks® PLA
NatureWorks LLC announced plans today at the National Recycling Convention in Minneapolis, Minn., to institute a large-volume "buy-back" program in North America for post-consumer PLA bottles in mixed plastic waste recycling streams. The program provides an additional landfill waste diversion option for corn-based NatureWorks® PLA, a material that already offers the most waste diversion choices of any other plastic.

Het ecomagination* initiatief en de Lexan* ZigZag* dakplaatmaterialen van GE helpen Nederlandse glastuinbouw op weg naar onafhankelijkheid van fossiele energiebronnen
BERGEN OP ZOOM, NEDERLAND — 15 november 2005 — De broeikasindustrie in Nederland streeft naar een strategische verschuiving om steeds minder fossiele brandstoffen te gaan verbruiken; hierbij richt de industrie zich momenteel met name op het ecomagination* initiatief van GE voor innovatieve en milieuvriendelijke oplossingen. Met behulp van GE’s nieuwe Lexan* ZigZag* polycarbonaat (PC) dakplaatmaterialen bouwt Hydro Huisman, een toonaangevend hydrocultuurbedrijf in Huissen, op dit moment de eerste broeikas die meer energie zal produceren dan dat hij gebruikt. De dubbelwandige Lexan ZigZag dakplaatmaterialen zorgen voor een hogere lichttransmissie dan enkel glas en isoleren even goed als dubbel glas en PC-platen. Door deze energiezuinige eigenschappen kan ongeveer een derde van de warmte die wordt gegenereerd in de broeikas als overschot worden verkocht.
