New advantages emerging for Perstorp’s Pevalen™ plasticizer for close to consumer applications
Perstorp - March 31, 2016 - An increasing number of flexible PVC producers and users are taking advantage of the excellent processability and performance characteristics of Pevalen™, the non-phthalate general-purpose plasticizer from Perstorp for close-to-consumer applications. Now, new research indicates that they may have another reason to choose Pevalen™—for its flame retardant properties.
Royal DSM, a global science-based company active in health, nutrition and materials, says producers of wearable electronics are turning to its Arnitel® thermoplastic elastomer for soft straps. A new high performance solution that it created specifically for the application has been adopted by several companies, including Samsung for its latest Galaxy Gear S2 smartwatch.
As a result of increasing raw material prices DSM will increase the price for its Akulon® and Novamid® polyamide 6 polymers and compounds. DSM will increase prices in Europe by € 120/t for polyamide polymer, and by € 85/t for polyamide compounds. These increases will take effect for all orders shipped on or after April 1, 2016 where contracts allow.
