URMOND (NL) – 28 March 2008 – At the World Biomaterials Congress, May 28 till June 1, DSM will launch a new grade of its high-performance Dyneema Purity® polyethylene fiber portfolio that offers the same high specific strength as existing grades at significantly thinner diameters. This new product was developed specifically to help medical device manufacturers design smaller, lower-profile implants for minimally invasive surgical procedures without sacrificing strength and durability. Expansion of the Dyneema Purity® product portfolio is just one example of DSM’s strong commitment to the biomedical market. Through materials innovation and ongoing collaboration with medical device companies, DSM is firmly focused on enabling medical device companies to develop new clinical approaches that improve patient outcomes, including shorter recuperation times and less scarring.

BERGEN OP ZOOM, The Netherlands — March 27, 2008 — Manufacturers of products that come in contact with potable water must navigate through a multitude of regulations, which can delay time to market. SABIC Innovative Plastics has proactively and voluntarily obtained potable water certifications for its hydrostable Noryl* resins to help manufacturers simplify and speed up the approval process. By certifying Noryl resins for potable water applications globally, SABIC Innovative Plastics is adding value to its materials for OEMs making such products as pumps, water treatment housings, and impellers. Noryl hydrostable grades are among very few materials with an extensive list of worldwide certifications.

The Medtec UK 2008 (13-14 February in Birmingham) has been a major success for polymer distributor and service provider Distrupol. This was Distrupol’s first time exhibiting at the event where it generated over 60 new sales leads, three of which have already resulted in tool trials of polymers supplied by the company. Distrupol believes the excellent response at the show was largely down to the availability of its own Development Engineers, and those of its material suppliers, to discuss product development opportunities and polymer solutions at the stand.
