The Netherlands, September 29, 2011 - DSM Dyneema has completed the outright purchase of IP rights related to the manufacture of light weight air cargo pallet nets made with Dyneema®, the world’s strongest fiber™ , from Hoffman ACE (based in Friedberg, Germany). The IP rights were previously jointly owned by DSM Dyneema and Hoffmann.

Sittard, the Netherlands – June 16, 2011 – SABIC has won the Responsible Care award for 2011. The announcement was made on Wednesday June 15 during the annual meeting of the Dutch Chemical Industry Federation (Vereniging van de Nederlandse Chemische Industrie (VNCI)) in The Hague. The company was chosen to receive the award because of its efforts to render the transportation of hazardous substances as safe as possible. SABIC has implemented a number of safety policies which go above and beyond the statutory and regulatory provisions. In addition, SABIC also actively involves its suppliers in safety improvements throughout the logistics chain.

The Netherlands, February 24, 2011 - Ropes made with Dyneema®, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), are being successfully used to secure rigs, Mobile Offshore Drilling Units (MODUs), Buoyant Turret Mooring (BTM) systems and similar constructions in the offshore oil and gas industry. Users are finding them invaluable when original equipment steel wire rope (SWR) and chains that secure mooring legs break or suffer damage. The back-up lines made with Dyneema® are installed as a safety feature until regular maintenance can be carried out.

The Netherlands, February 3, 2011 - A salvage operation on a ship wreck 3200 meters below the surface of the South Atlantic has been successfully carried out thanks to the use of lightweight ropes made with Dyneema® ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber.
