Muttenz, May 10, 2016 – Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, says its recently-introduced Hostacor® AL water-dispersible corrosion inhibitor for use in the metalworking industry has been recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for its potential to reduce environmental pollution. The recognition is provided as part of the EPA’s Pollution Prevention (P2) Recognition Project within its New Chemicals Program (NCP), which is intended to encourage chemical companies to develop “greener” chemistries.

Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, in cooperation with Werner & Mertz, the producer of Frosch® products, has launched a project which expands the possible applications of bioethanol made from agricultural residues such as straw to detergents, cleansers and cleaning agents. sunliquid® bioethanol has been used in Frosch® Bio-Spirit Multisurface-Cleaner since the beginning of the year. As part of this, Clariant supplied the cellulosic ethanol, also called bio spirit, at the end of 2015 from its pre-commercial plant in Straubing, where up to 1 000 tons of cellulosic ethanol are produced annually using the sunliquid® process.

Munich, August 26, 2015 – Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, announced today a new development in controlling harmful nitrous oxide (N₂O) emissions. Nitrous oxide emissions are harmful in two ways: they exacerbate the greenhouse effect and damage the ozone layer. At present, nitrous oxide is destroying the ozone layer more aggressively than any other substance. The new ENVICAT® N₂O-S has been proven particularly effective in the decomposition of N₂O in secondary nitric acid installations or high N₂O containing gas streams such as from adipic acid production.
