DSM, the largest manufacturer of high performance polyethylene (HPPE) fiber in the world, today announces its decision to make another investment in a new production line for Dyneema® fiber in Greenville, North Carolina (USA). It is the third announcement this year of new Dyneema® fiber production lines at DSM’s Greenville site, following earlier decisions to build two additional fiber lines and one Dyneema® UD (UniDirectional bullet resistant sheet) line.

Urmond, The Netherlands, 24 October 2005 – DSM Dyneema announced a new branding program to help ensure the quality of industrial gloves made with Dyneema®, the world's strongest fiber. The program recruits top glove makers known for their consistently high quality production, then independently tests the abrasion and cut resistance of their gloves with Dyneema®. A label tells end-users that the gloves on their hands conform to the program's standards. The program is expected to be in place by year end.

Heerlen, The Netherlands, 13 September 2005 – A new backing technology for personal protection, utilizing Dyneema®, the world's strongest fiber, offers those in the line of fire new options, light in weight but heavy in protective ability. The new technology provides a starting point for designing hybrid inserts consisting of a backing with Dyneema® skinned with a ceramic strike face. The backing is to defeat rifle threats by stopping bullets fragmented by the ceramic plate, and retain the plate integrity upon impact. These inserts offer excellent multi-hit protection. Backing with Dyneema® can be shaped to fit without unnecessary bulk, providing unencumbered mobility, and provides tailored penetration resistance for a range of tactical needs.
