GE Plastics Presents $25,000 to the Eindhoven University of Technology for Polymer Research
BERGEN OP ZOOM, THE NETHERLANDS — March 31, 2006 — In a ceremony at the TU/e on March 29, GE Plastics presented a donation of $25,000 to Prof. Dr. Piet Lemstra, senior professor for the Laboratory of Polymer Technology (SKT) in the Department for Chemical Engineering and Chemistry. The donation was presented on behalf of Dr. Theo Hoeks, principal scientist at GE Plastics in Bergen op Zoom, and a winner of GE’s prestigious Edison Award in 2005.

Owens Corning annonce un investissment de plusieurs millions de dollars dans ses capacités d’assemblage afin de répondre à la croissance de la demande mondiale sur le marché de l'énergie éolienne
PARIS, France: 28 mars 2006 - Dans le cadre du salon JEC Composite Show, Owens Corning (OWENQ.OB) a annoncé aujourd’hui la mise en place d’une nouvelle ligne d’assemblage de fibre de verre sur son site situé au nord de Sao Paulo, au Brésil. Cette nouvelle fait suite à deux autres annonces majeures d’Owens Corning concernant le marché de l’énergie éolienne : la réalisation d’investissements en capitaux en Inde, afin de soutenir la demande croissante de ce pays en matière d'énergie éolienne, et le lancement d’une nouvelle structure asymétrique innovante, soudée et en stratifil, baptisée WindStrand™. Il s’agit de la première application utilisant HiPer-tex™, la nouvelle plate-forme de pointe d’Owens Corning pour la production d’armatures. Les produits WindStrand permettront au marché de l’énergie éolienne de progresser encore dans la concurrence qui l’oppose aux autres sources d’énergie alternatives, en réduisant le coût par kilowatt/heure (kWh).

Perfect symbiosis of time and N-SPEC® of Brenntag Oil & Gas
Brenntag Oil & Gas Europe, one of the world’s leading suppliers in pipeline cleaning services, recently managed to open an offshore 7.3 km, 6 5/8” crude trunk line with N-SPEC 50 dispersant/solvent. The line, which belongs to Petromar, Romania’s offshore petroleum exploration company, had been obstructed for six years and previous efforts to open it had failed. It took almost one and a half years before the N-SPEC crew managed to open the line. Peter Verkiel, European Product Manager N-SPEC products & services at Brenntag, elaborates on the project.
