Bio Base Europe is granted €21 million to become the first open innovation and education center for the biobased economy in Europe
Brussels, Belgium 18 December 2008 – On December 12, Europe, Flanders and The Netherlands have joined forces within the framework of an Interreg IV project and allocated €21 million to Bio Base Europe. Bio Base Europe is the largest Interreg project ever granted to the Dutch-Flemish border region. Bio Base Europe will build research and training facilities for biobased activities, in order to speed up the development of a sustainable biobased economy in Europe.

Lyon, Francia – 15 de diciembre de 2008 – Rhodia ha obtenido para su Technyl A 218W V30 la certificación W270 relativa a los organismos micro acuáticos. Esta referencia, esencial para fabricantes de aplicaciones en contacto con agua potable, se añade a su existente lista de certificaciones de las autoridades reglamentarias Europea y Americana. El Technyl A218W V30, una poliamida 6.6 con 30% de fibra de vidrio, ya era conocida por sus excelente resistencia a la hidrolisis y sus altas prestaciones mecánicas.

Ford recorta el peso de los guardabarros del Kuga gracias a las resinas Noryl GTX* de SABIC Innovative Plastics
BERGEN OP ZOOM, Países Bajos – 08 de diciembre de 2008 – Las resinas de altas prestaciones Noryl GTX* de SABIC Innovative Plastics, que hasta ahora sólo se habían empleado en los prototipos de vehículos de Ford, han empezado a utilizarse en la producción en serie. Este paso pone de manifiesto el deseo de SABIC de ayudar a los fabricantes de piezas del sector del automóvil a satisfacer los retos medioambientales más acuciantes, como el ahorro de combustible y los objetivos de emisiones. El nuevo Ford Kuga, el primer modelo de Ford en el segmento de los todoterrenos, es el primer vehículo de la marca Ford que incorpora guardabarros de plástico moldeados a partir de la resina Noryl GTX de SABIC Innovative Plastics, que destaca por su ligereza, resistencia a impactos y reciclabilidad. HIGHEST EUROPEAN AUTHORITY UPHOLDS DSM DYNEEMA PATENT
URMOND (NL), 8 December 2008 - DSM Dyneema, inventor and manufacturer of Dyneema®, the world’s strongest fiber®, has won a victory before the European Patent Office Boards of Appeal. The company received notification in November 2008 that it had successfully defended its patent for panels incorporating high-performance Dyneema® fiber against a challenge from Teijin Aramid (formerly Teijin Twaron), a Dutch supplier of rival fiber products. The panels made with Dyneema® are used in such applications as bullet-resistant vests and vehicle armor.
