Univar adquiere distribuidor de productos químicos en España
Rotterdam, Holanda – 7 de Abril de 2006 – Univar N.V. (Euronext Amsterdam: UNIVR), líder mundial de la distribución química, ha anunciado hoy que su división europea ha adquirido el cien por cien del capital social de la entidad JSM Chemicals, S.A., establecida en el área de Valencia (España). Durante el ejercicio correspondiente a 2005, JSM registró unas ventas netas cercanas a los 13 millones de euros.

Toledo, OHIO, EE.UU. 28 de febrero de 2006 – Owens Corning (OWENQ.OB) ha anunciado en la Conferencia y Exhibición Europea de Energía Eólica en Atenas, Grecia, un innovador roving de fibra de vidrio de un solo cabo y tela reticulada, WindStrand™, que permitirá al mercado de energía eólica dar otro paso adelante para competir con éxito contra otras fuentes de energía alternativas al reducir el costo por kilovatio. El producto permitirá que los fabricantes de turbinas incrementen la longitud de las palas en un 6 por ciento y producir hasta un 12 por ciento más de potencia – por un 20 por ciento menos del costo de cualquier solución híbrida de carbono-vidrio de la competencia actualmente en el mercado.

DNV Certification B.V. als eerste certificatie-instelling geaccrediteerd voor OHSAS 18001-certificering
Rotterdam, 5 april 2006 – DNV Certification B.V. heeft op 22 maart 2006 door de Raad van Accreditatie (RvA) formeel bevestigd gekregen dat DNV de OHSAS 18001-accredatie ontvangt. OHSAS 18001, Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series, is een norm voor arbomanagementsystemen. Na een goedkeuringsproces van ruim twee jaar is DNV Certification B.V. de eerste van slechts vier certificatie-instellingen die geaccrediteerd is door de RvA om OHSAS 18001-certificaten te verstrekken.

Dyneema® vs. Steel Wire: Deeper, Stronger, Tougher
Urmond (NL), April 5 - Deep-sea installation of sub-sea hardware projects now have a high-technology alternative to traditional steel wire rope that offers a significantly longer lifespan, lighter weight and greater safety. Rope made with super-strong Dyneema® fiber from DSM has been shown to outperform steel wire rope when used to place heavy equipment at extreme ocean depths greater than 3km. Testing by TMT Technologies in Huntington Beach, CA, showed that an 80mm rope made with Dyneema®, the world’s strongest fiber, withstood more than twice the number of bend cycles of steel wire. (number of bend cycles where 50% of steel wire is discarded)
