Xiameter Marks One-Year Anniversary By Adding Products and Staff
(Midland, Mich. - March 5, 2003) – Xiameter, www.xiameter.com, the web-enabled business unit from Dow Corning that provides customers with the lowest-base price for mature silicone products, marks its one-year anniversary in the marketplace today. The no-frills, straightforward business model celebrates a successful 2002 and forecasts continued success as it introduces new products in 2003.
“Xiameter’s growth in 2002 came from several areas,” explained Michael Lanham, who was recently promoted to executive director of Xiameter’s global business. “We attracted a significant number of new customers; we’re increasing share at existing customers; and we have benefited from expanded applications for silicon-based materials. In addition, Xiameter has made silicone products affordable for companies that couldn’t previously afford them.”
Xiameter contributed significantly to Dow Corning’s strong financial results in 2002. Continued growth is expected, based on the addition of more than 100 new products to the Xiameter series, the recruitment of additional traders and geographic expansion. Xiameter products now are available in 80 countries around the world, compared to 50 countries one year ago.
Xiameter recently recruited two new traders. They are Duke Cho and Toni Barella. Duke Cho, global trader, who brings 14 years of industry experience to Xiameter, will be located in the United States and will report to Michael Lanham. Toni Barella, country trader in Europe, comes to Xiameter with 18 years of industry experience. Toni is based in Europe and reports to Xiameter European General Manager Michel Bassens.
“We were especially pleased by two things this past year,” Lanham continued. “One was the extremely strong sales we recorded in Asia, which were on par with sales in some of our highly developed geographies. The second was customers’ willingness to use an English-language website. When given the choice of receiving the lowest-base price or having the website translated into local languages, our customers overwhelmingly chose the lowest-base price. This demonstrated to us that Xiameter’s unique selling proposition and lowest-base pricing are the dominant criteria in customers’ purchasing decisions.”
For non-English speaking customers who need assistance ordering, Xiameter offers E-seminars to empowered users. Participants have the opportunity to learn, in local languages, how to fully utilize the features of www.xiameter.com, including order entry, order changes, delivery status and tracking, locating products and managing their accounts.
Xiameter, a global brand of Dow Corning Corp., offers lowest-base pricing for high-volume shipping units of commonly used silicon-based materials. Launched in 2002, the business offers more than 350 fluids, resins, silanes and sealants. Xiameter reduces costs to customers through streamlined services, the application of straightforward business rules and web-enabled transactions.
