Clariant’s MegaMax® 800 catalyst achieved an outstanding performance at CNOOC’s Davy methanol plant in Hainan, China
Clariant has been awarded another major contract by China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) for its high-performance methanol synthesis catalyst, MegaMax 800. The Chinese oil and gas producer first used the catalyst at their Fudao plant in 2018, achieving record accumulative methanol production and plant reliability. The catalyst’s excellent performance has now resulted in its reorder which completed refilling and start-up in June 2021.

New UL yellow card certification added to DOMO’s portfolio for air distribution applications
DOMAMID® 6B30, a polyamide 6 based 30% glass beads filled solution by DOMO Chemicals, has been recently certified with UL yellow card. The certification was required by Prevost for the production of their air compressed fittings.

DSM and SABIC combine efforts to create recycled-based Dyneema®
Royal DSM, a global science-based company in Nutrition, Health and Sustainable Living, and SABIC, a global leader in the chemical industry, today announced a collaboration to create recycled-based Dyneema®. Through a joint pilot with multiple CirculariTeam® members, the manufacturing and usage of Dyneema® using mixed plastic waste as feedstock (via mass balance approach) will be successfully demonstrated. It is an important step toward the future goal of fully closing the loop by delivering Dyneema® made from ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMwPE) waste. This collaboration underlines DSM’s and SABIC’s efforts to accelerate a circular economy for materials.

TotalEnergies and Jindal Films have joined forces to produce more sustainable flexible food packaging and labels. Using advanced recycling technology from Plastic Energy, TotalEnergies will supply Jindal Films with Certified Circular Polypropylene produced from post-consumer plastic waste*. This new value-chain collaboration will divert plastic waste currently destined for incineration and landfill because it is too complex to recycle through existing schemes.

DSM and Fibrant significantly reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions for Akulon® PA6 with EcoLactam®
In view of the current tightening of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission ambitions in Europe, it is with great pride that DSM and Fibrant announce the accomplishment of a major reduction in the GHG emission of Caprolactam and thus subsequently also of PA6 as produced in Europe by July 2021. The GHG emission saved is estimated to be around 800 million kg CO2 on annual basis. This significant reduction has been achieved by implementing several technology improvements amongst which an advanced N2O abatement program in Fibrant’s Caprolactam production process.
