Perstorp inaugurates major new Oxo plant in Sweden to strengthen position in PVC plasticizers and chemical intermediates
Perstorp - May 21, 2015 - Perstorp officially opened a major extension to its capacity to produce PVC plasticizers and key chemical intermediates. The new state-of-the-art Oxo plant in Stenungsund, Sweden, began producing material soon after its start-up in January, and is now running at full regime and delivering high quality material according to plan.

DSM and NHU form joint venture to add PPS compounds to DSM’s global portfolio of high performance engineering plastics
Royal DSM, the global Life Sciences and Material Sciences company, and NHU announce the formation of a new joint venture company for the market development and manufacturing of high performance plastics compounds based on polyphenylene sulphide, PPS. The compounds will further enhance DSM’s offering in the high performance engineering plastics space, adding to its leadership positions with Stanyl® polyamide 46 and Stanyl® ForTii™ polyamide 4T. All sales at the joint venture, including those in China, will be handled by DSM’s Marketing and Sales organization with the brand name of Xytron™ PPS.

DSM and Ascend form global strategic alliance for supply of polyamide 66 compounds
Royal DSM, the global Life Sciences and Material Sciences company, and Ascend Performance Materials Inc., the premium provider of high-quality chemicals, fibers and plastics, announce that they have formed a global strategic alliance for the supply of compounds based on polyamide 66 (PA66). Under the agreement, Ascend becomes the strategic supplier to DSM for PA66 base-polymer used as raw material for Akulon® PA66 compounds for engineering plastics applications. In addition, DSM will distribute Ascend's portfolio of PA66 compounds sold under the brand name Vydyne®.

Clariant Oil Services launches breakthrough SCALETREAT® FeS iron sulfide scale inhibitor
Houston, TX, May 19, 2015 – Clariant, a world leader in Specialty Chemicals, introduces SCALETREAT® FeS iron sulfide scale inhibitor, which offers a paradigm shift for inhibiting iron sulfide scale. Counter to the standard practice of allowing scale to form and relying on a chelating option or dissolver for removal, the new high-performance SCALETREAT FeS prevents scale formation in the first place, and the resultant damage, at considerably lower dosages than existing chemistries, such as THPS (tetrakis hydroxymethyl phosphonium sulfate) and Acrolein.
