ASHLAND PROVIDES AKULON ULTRAFLOW FOR ALL-PLASTIC VIKING ICE SKATES
Weight reduction was a key driver for Viking, one of the world’s leading producers of ice skates. The latest generation of Viking ice skates is now completely made in plastic – except for the metal blade. Supported by DSM’s technical expertise and its Design Centre, a representative from Ashland, a leading distributor for the plastics processing industry, selected 60% glass filled Akulon® Ultraflow™ K-FG12 BLK, for the various parts of the new skates.

Sittard, the Netherlands – July 14, 2010 – SABIC’s two new High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) grades for Industrial Container applications - SABIC® HDPE ICP4907S and SABIC® HDPE ICP5602 - are commercially available for the global market from now on. Both grades meet the latest market challenges offering an optimal balance of properties, improved processing behavior and the potential to reduce system costs. The structure of the two SABIC grades open up new opportunities for noticeably energy and material savings and cycle time reductions - which support converters to improve their cost-efficiency as well as their sustainability performance.

DSM ENGINEERING PLASTICS INTRODUCES AKULON RC AT K 2010
At K 2010, DSM Engineering Plastics will announce the commercialization of Akulon RC, a portfolio of post-industrial recycled grades of PA6 for use in Automotive under-the-bonnet applications. The new material is planned to be available from the end of 2010 – with first commercial applications following in early 2011.

URMOND (NL), 7 July 2010 - Use of Dyneema® ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fiber is helping to ensure that a major construction project to bring clean energy to millions of people in the U.K. moves ahead as efficiently and safely as possible. The world’s largest offshore wind farm is under construction in the North Sea, 23 km off the coast of England. Scheduled for completion in 2012, the Greater Gabbard wind farm’s 140 turbines will generate 500 megawatts of electricity for the people of London.
