Total Petrochemicals Creates New Metallocene PP Resin Clarified with Milliken’s Millad® NX8000 for Thermoforming
Ghent, Belgium – 5 July, 2010 – Total Petrochemicals USA, Inc., a leading polypropylene (PP) producer headquartered in Houston, and Milliken Chemical, a division of Milliken & Company, collaborated on a new metallocene PP resin clarified with Milliken’s Millad® NX8000 technology. The new material, Total Petrochemicals’ Lumicene® M3382MZ polypropylene, produces thermoformed parts with superior clarity and gloss and excellent side wall stiffness. The resin is ideal for deli containers, drinking cups, lids, domes and food service trays when high clarity and stiffness are important. The combination of Milliken’s high-performance clarifier and Total’s proprietary metallocene technology will help drive expanded use of low-density PP as a cost-effective and environmentally responsible replacement for other clear plastic materials.

Rapid exits restructuring process, holds positive future outlook
Bredaryd, Sweden – July 5, 2010 – Rapid Granulator AB today announced that it has successfully completed the restructuring process which the company began in October 2009. This restructuring process which only affected Rapid’s Swedish operation provided for protection against old debts under Swedish law while allowing it to continue normal business operations.

DSM INAUGURATES NEW PRODUCTION FACILITY FOR STANYL FORTII
Royal DSM N.V., the global Life Sciences and Materials Sciences company headquartered in the Netherlands, has today inaugurated its new Stanyl® ForTii™ Production Unit. As announced in May 2009, the new facility has quadrupled production capacity for Stanyl ForTii in order to meet market demand for this new polymer, which is used in electronics and other applications. Stanyl ForTii was developed by DSM Engineering Plastics and is the first new polymer introduced in the last decade.
