Terumo BCT's Mirasol shows efficacy against virus causing COVID-19 in plasma and platelets
Data from a new study suggests that a medical device that uses vitamin B2 and ultraviolet light for treating human blood products is effective against the virus that causes COVID-19. The study results, generated by Terumo BCT in collaboration with top researchers from Colorado State University, have been accepted for publication by Vox Sanguinis, a peer-reviewed medical journal covering hematology.

Terumo BCT, Inc. e Marker Therapeutics AG hanno annunciato oggi di aver ottenuto dalla agenzia U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) l’Autorizzazione all’Utilizzo in Emergenza (EUA) del sistema di aferesi Spectra Optia® di Terumo BCT, insieme alla cartuccia di adsorbimento D2000 di Marker Therapeutics, per il trattamento di pazienti di 18 anni o di maggiore età, affetti da patologia confermata da Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19), ammessi nelle unità di terapia intensiva (ICU) con confermata o imminente insufficienza respiratoria, per ridurre i livelli di citochine proinfiammatorie.
