TE Connectivity celebrates 75 years of PIDG terminals and splices
TE Connectivity (TE), a world leader in connectivity and sensors, is celebrating 75 years of production of its PIDG (Pre-Insulated Diamond Grip) terminals and splices. TE’s predecessor company AMP began making PIDG products in 1943, when company founder, Uncas A. Whitaker, invented a breakthrough insulation support sleeve that offered better terminal performance under high stress. PIDG became the terminal of choice for aerospace manufacturers and quickly spread to other industries. PIDG can be found in most manufactured products where wires and cables are used including control cabinets, power supplies, transportation equipment and appliances. The many millions of PIDG terminals that are still deployed decades after installation are a testament to the rigorous testing and research that went into their design and manufacturing.

TE Connectivity launches a cross linked ruggedized Cat5e rail data cable for use on both on board and trackside applications
TE Connectivity (TE), a world leader in connectivity and sensors, has introduced a new Category 5e (Cat5e) quad high speed data cable for railway rolling stock and infrastructure. With its halogen-free flame retardant polymer insulation, the cable complies with EN45545-2, the new European standard covering fire behavior of materials and products in railway rolling stock. This is because its crosslinked outer jacketing provides high resistance to chemicals, mechanical stresses and extreme temperatures. It can be supplied on its own or in pre-assembled assemblies with connectors, for ease and speed of installation.

SABIC showcases advanced thermoplastic materials and manufacturing processes at Aircraft Interiors Expo
The progression of ‘light weighting’ aircraft components is a vital enabler in allowing airlines globally to minimize costs and reduce maintenance and refurbishment cycles, while maintaining the highest levels of safety excellence, design flexibility and improved passenger experience. Advanced thermoplastic composites are an emerging solution for such applications. Widespread adoption of thermoplastic composites depends on new material technologies, upscaling of efficient production processes and expert application know-how. SABIC is focusing heavily in all three areas.
