Borouge joins PE100+ Association with qualification of pipe grade Borstar® HE3490-LS
Borouge is now an official member of the PE100+ Association, an industry organisation comprising polyethylene (PE) manufacturers, of which Borealis, Borouge’s parent company, is also a member. Borouge’s Borstar® HE3490-LS (black) pipe grade, manufactured in Ruwais (UAE) passed the second round of testing required to join the “PE100+ Quality materials” list.

Univar advances European growth strategy with further expansion in Central and Eastern Europe
Univar N.V. (Euronext Amsterdam: UNIVR), a world leader in chemical distribution, today announced the establishment of two new subsidiaries in the increasingly dynamic Eastern European region. The new businesses, Univar Czech s.r.o., located in Prague, and Univar Hungary Ltd., situated in Budapest, became officially operational on February 1, 2006, and are the latest developments in Univar’s planned growth in Europe.

Distrupol highlights new materials and new opportunities for its customers at Scanplast 2006
Distrupol will use its participation at Scanplast 2006, Stand CO3:22, to introduce the new Sabic® PP CPC Clearpact, a high transparency, high impact packaging material. Other innovations are the launch of a web-based training programme for customers, as well as Distrupol’s PIC (Product Information Centre). PIC provides specifiers with a database of the more than 3000 polymer grades. By allowing users to compare thse in the same format, side by side, on-screen – choosing the right material for an application was never easier.

Brenntag – a safe partner in providing chemical products & services
Brenntag Oil & Gas Europe has recently been SCC** certified by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance for its HSE working procedures. SCC**, which stands for Safety Checklist Contractors, is an international safety checklist to demonstrate that a contractor is in compliance with key requirements according to national HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) legislation. The checklist is applied and recognized in several EU member states.

Distrupol Ireland have been appointed distributor for Innovene’s Rigidex high density polyethylenes. The Rigidex range is a market leader, based on the past businesses of BP Chemicals and Solvay. Distrupol Ireland is already the exclusive distributor for Innovene’s polypropylenes and its other polyethylenes.

Borealis appoints new Vice President Engineering Applications
Borealis has appointed Paul Turner as Vice President Engineering Applications with effect March 1, 2006. In his new role Paul will head the Borealis automotive and appliances business including the sales, marketing and development units. He will be based in Mechelen, Belgium.

SIEMENS VDO: PIONIERE NELL’USO AUTOMOBILISTICO DI STANYL® PA46 DI DSM PER LE PROTEZIONI DEL MOTORE ELETTRICO NEL NUOVO ABS A POMPA
La poliammide 46 (PA46) Stanyl®, spesso utilizzata nelle protezioni dei motori elettrici nel settore non automobilistico, grazie alla robustezza data da parete sottile e resistenza al calore, ha trovato il suo primo impiego nell’auto: il motore a pompa del sistema antibloccaggio (ABS) della Siemens VDO. Nel motore elettrico, compatto e di recente progettazione, la resina Stanyl presenta pareti ultrasottili (0,4-0,6 mm) che massimizzano sia la dimensione della protezione, sia il numero di avvolgimenti in filo. Costituisce un modo vantaggioso di ottimizzare il processo di assemblaggio del motore ed allo stesso tempo, isola elettricamente gli avvolgimenti in filo dall’armatura del rotore in metallo. La protezione in Stanyl conserva rigidità e stabilità dimensionale fino a 290°C, più dei comuni termoplastici soggetti al carico di tensione degli avvolgimenti in filo.
