SABIC and Japan Steel Works collaborate on SABIC’s TF-BOPE resin for flexible packaging
SABIC, a global leader in the chemical industry has announced that The Japan Steel Works, Ltd. (JSW) has validated the use of SABIC® LLDPE BX202, a linear low-density polyethylene resin specially developed for processing on tenter frame extrusion equipment for biaxially oriented PE (TF-BOPE) packaging film. The value chain collaboration endorses the use of SABIC’s TF-BOPE material on JSW film lines, extends the machine supplier’s footprint into the BOPE film market for flexible packaging, and underscores SABIC’s role as a forerunner in this market segment.

Clariant completes acquisition of BASF’s U.S. Attapulgite business assets
Clariant, a focused, sustainable, and innovative specialty chemical company, today announces that it has completed the acquisition of BASF’s U.S. based Attapulgite business assets for USD 60 million in cash. Structured as an asset deal, the transaction includes the transfer of land as well as mining rights, the processing facility, and inventories, which will be integrated into Clariant’s Functional Minerals business. The finalized deal also includes an agreement for the long-term supply of attapulgite-based products to BASF. The transaction will improve the EBITDA margin profile of Clariant’s Business Area Natural Resources while supporting the company’s path towards reaching its 2025 targets.

Prix Suppliers Partnership 2022 pour l’environnement: Solvay à l’honneur
Solvay, un des principaux fournisseurs de matériaux techniques, a reçu le prix Suppliers Partnership (SP) 2022 au titre de sa créativité en matière d’application des pratiques de développement durable. Ce prix récompense une «remarquable créativité dans la mise en œuvre de programmes et de pratiques de développement durable au sein de la filière automobile nord-américaine». Un comité de constructeurs de premier plan, membres du SP (dont Ford, General Motors, Honda, Stellantis et Toyota), a choisi Solvay en raison du caractère éco-responsable de sa fabrication d’un programme de polymères biosourcés ainsi que de résultats mesurables en matière de réduction de l’empreinte carbone au cours des 24 derniers mois.
