Mondi to open its first paper bags plant in Colombia to serve South American customers
Mondi, a leading global packaging and paper manufacturer, will open its new state-of-the-art paper bags plant in Cartagena, Colombia in January 2021. It will be Mondi’s first operation in South America, reinforcing the group’s strength as a global paper bags supplier with a wide local footprint. The new plant will enable Mondi to improve and grow its services to better serve customers in the region.

DSM and Neste announce strategic partnership to create high performance materials made from sustainable feedstock
Royal DSM, a global science-based company in Nutrition, Health and Sustainable Living, today announced that it will start a strategic partnership with Neste, the world’s leading producer of renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel and a forerunner as provider of renewable and circular solutions for the chemical industry, to enable the production of high performance polymers. SABIC lance un nouveau film LEXAN™ antibuée pour les visières, lentilles et lunettes de protection pour personnels de première ligne travaillant en environnements à fort taux d’humidité
La société SABIC, un des leaders mondiaux de l’industrie chimique, a annoncé ce jour le succès de la commercialisation de son film antibuée LEXAN™ HP92AF, destiné principalement à équiper les dispositifs de protection contre la COVID-19, comme les visières et les lunettes de protection qui sont utilisées dans les environnements de travail de première ligne. Ce film comporte un revêtement sur une de ses faces qui retarde la formation de buée en ambiance très humide et conserve ainsi une transparence optique de longue durée. Le LEXAN HP92AF a démontré la supériorité de ses propriétés antibuée à la suite d’une série d’essais réalisés dans des conditions les plus sévères (voir la vidéo). Contrairement à ce qui peut être observé avec d’autres produits concurrents, le film ne présente aucun voile à saturation. En outre, la technologie de revêtement antibuée n’entraîne aucune dégradation de la résistance à l’abrasion ni de la résistance à l’impact du film polycarbonate.

Perstorp plan to reduce carbon emission with half million tons by producing sustainable methanol
Perstorp, a global leader in the specialty chemicals market, has developed a production concept to produce methanol from a large variety of recovered end-of-life streams and hydrogen from electrolysis. Project AIR will build a first-of-a-kind, large scale, commercial Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU) unit to produce sustainable methanol. The methanol plant will be unique in the sense that it is a combined CCU and gasification process where CO2, residue streams, renewable hydrogen and biomethane will be converted to methanol. Perstorp plan to do this in cooperation with Fortum, Uniper and Nature Energy.

SABIC expands post-consumer recycled engineering thermoplastics for consumer electronics and E&E applications
Responding to calls from major brands in the consumer electronics business and electrics and electronics (E&E) industry as a whole for more sustainable materials, SABIC – a global leader in the chemical industry – announced that its engineering thermoplastics business is expanding its portfolio of CYCOLOY™ and LEXAN™ resins containing high levels of post-consumer recycled material (PCR). Typical applications for the portfolio will include consumer electronics and accessories such as chargers and adapters, printers, copiers and laptop housing.
