DSM to launch new line of bio-based materials via partnership with Empresa Brasileira de Biotechnologia (EBRABIOTECH)
Royal DSM, the global Life and Material Sciences company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding between its US-based Business Unit DSM Functional Materials and Empresa Brasileira de Biotechnologia (Ebrabiotech) of Brazil for the launch of a new line of DSM-branded bio-based materials targeting the concrete floor coatings market. The initiative focuses on the development of bio-based castor oil materials, which is non-edible and helps to lower the total carbon footprint.

BERGEN OP ZOOM, Países Bajos – 12 de enero de 2012 – La unidad de negocios Innovative Plastics de SABIC ha anunciado hoy que sus instalaciones de fabricación en Campinas, Brasil y Tortuguitas, Argentina, han recibido la certificación para producir resinas biocompatibles conformes con las normas de la Administración de Alimentos y Fármacos de EE. UU. (FDA) para el rápidamente creciente mercado sanitario de Sudamérica, que contribuirán a recortar los plazos de entrega, reducir los costes de inventario y aumentar la flexibilidad en el aprovisionamiento de materiales. Las previsiones apuntan a que los mercados sanitarios de ocho países de Latinoamérica y Sudamérica (Brasil, México, Argentina, Chile, Venezuela, Perú, Colombia y Cuba) alcanzarán una tasa de crecimiento anual compuesto (TCAC) del 4,6 por ciento entre 2008 y 2013, hasta llegar a 9.200 millones de EE. UU. dólares, de acuerdo con Espicom Health Intelligence. Con el objetivo de satisfacer esta creciente demanda, SABIC se ha comprometido a poner en manos de los clientes locales un acceso rápido y sencillo a los materiales de altas prestaciones (tales como las resinas de policarbonato Lexan* HP biocompatibles), junto con los recursos técnicos necesarios para llevar al mercado la próxima generación de aplicaciones médicas.
