Clariant is named Pigment Supplier of the Year by Sitivesp
Muttenz/ São Paulo, December 23, 2011 - Sitivesp, the Union of Paints & Coatings producers of the State of São Paulo, has named Clariant “Supplier of the Year” in the Pigment category of its annual award scheme. This is the 17th time, in the 20 year history of the award, that Clariant has been chosen as the best Pigment supplier.

CLOSURE OF FLAACH TAPE DEVELOPMENT & MANUFACTURING FACILITY
The Netherlands, December 21, 2011 - DSM Dyneema has announced its decision to close its facility in Flaach, Switzerland. The site was acquired in 2007 as part of the acquisition of Pamako A.G., and currently develops and produces Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMwPE) tape. Approx. 25 people are affected by this decision.

Las ligeras resinas Xenoy* y Lexan* de SABIC ofrecen confort durante todo el día en la nueva unidad de protección para la cabeza Versaflo™ serie M de 3M™
BERGEN OP ZOOM, Países Bajos – 15 de diciembre de 2011 – Debido a que los equipos de protección solo resultan eficaces cuando los trabajadores los utilizan, 3M™ ha diseñado una nueva línea de protectores para la cabeza y cascos de seguridad cómodos y ergonómicos, hechos con las ligeras resinas Xenoy* y Lexan* OQ de calidad óptica de la unidad de negocios Innovative Plastics de SABIC. La nueva línea de unidades de protección de cabeza con respirador Versaflo™ serie M de 3M utiliza la resina de policarbonato/tereftalato de polibutileno (PC/PBT) Xenoy con colores personalizados para las estructuras de las cascos y los marcos de los visores, lo que permite aplicar diseños de espesores de pared delgados que contribuyen a la reducción del peso de las piezas en aproximadamente un 15-20% en comparación con el anterior diseño (serie L) de productos de la compañía. La resina de PC Lexan OQ de excelente transparencia, que se utiliza en los visores, ofrece una sobresaliente calidad óptica y alta resistencia al impacto. Songwon, Pan Gulf and Polysys signed a MoU for global manufacturing and sales of OPS

Flexible switches via PoE
Belden has added three new unmanaged low-cost switches from the SPIDER series to its Hirschmann™ product range. These switches support Fast Ethernet (10/100 Mbps) and have either five twisted-pair ports (SPIDER 5TX PD EEC) or one twisted-pair port and one fiberoptic port for multimode (SPIDER 1TX/1FX-MM PD EEC) or singlemode optical fiber (SPIDER 1TX/1FX-SM PD EEC). Other features include industrial protection class IP30, a strong metal housing and an extended temperature range from -40° to +70°C. Since all versions are powered via PoE there is no need for a separate power supply or even a socket. These switches can therefore be used wherever a PoE port is available, thus allowing flexible network expansion, with additional ports for data transmission via copper cable or – for large distances or where there are strong electromagnetic fields – fiberoptic uplinks.

Songwon acquires Additives Technology Greiz and takes a leadership position in the delivery of One Pack Systems
Ulsan, Korea – December 13, 2011 – Today, at the Annual GPCA forum 2011 in Dubai (UAE), Songwon Industrial Group has announced it has acquired Additives Technology Greiz (ATG), one of Europe’s largest manufacturers of One Pack Systems (OPS) products for the polymer industry. ATG’s manufacturing plant is located in Greiz (Germany) and has produced dust free polymer additive packages since 2006. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
