La resina Valox iQ* de SABIC Innovative Plastics ofrece una alternativa «verde» (además de azul, amarilla y rosa) a los palillos de madera
BERGEN OP ZOOM, Países Bajos – 28 de octubre de 2008 – A diario, por todo Japón, los millones de palillos de madera desechables que se usan en los comedores de oficinas, colegios y otros locales de comidas acaban tirándose a la basura. Ahora, Sanshin Kako, uno de los principales fabricantes de utensilios de cocina para uso profesional del país, está utilizando la resina Valox iQ* 420 HP de altas prestaciones de SABIC Innovative Plastics, un producto que contribuye a las llamadas «tres erres» (reducir, reutilizar y reciclar) y, por tanto, tiene un menor impacto medioambiental. Los palillos de plástico de Sanshin Kako no sólo conservan los recursos naturales, sino que en cada kilogramo de esta resina se emplean hasta 0,87 kilogramos de botellas de polietileno de tereftalato (PET) recicladas que, en caso de no reutilizarse, irían a parar a los vertederos. Los palillos se comercializan en vivos colores personalizados, ofrecen una superficie lisa (a diferencia de la madera, que se astilla con facilidad) y ponen de manifiesto la apuesta de SABIC Innovative Plastics por el desarrollo global de nuevas tecnologías que ayuden a sus clientes a superar los retos medioambientales de hoy en día.

Solutia Celebrates Production, Sales Milestone from New Saflex® Manufacturing Line in Ghent, Belgium
ST. LOUIS, USA, AND DÜSSELDORF, GERMANY, October 23, 2008 — Today at the Glasstec 2008 exhibition in Düsseldorf, Germany, the Saflex® unit of Solutia Inc. (NYSE: SOA), announced that one million square meters of Saflex polyvinyl butyral (PVB) interlayers have been produced and shipped for commercial sale from the recently completed Third Extrusion Line (TEL) located at its plant in Ghent, Belgium. This start-up marks a significant milestone for the business, which has been focusing on improved regional capability and service levels over the past several years. Solutia will host a Grand Opening celebration for customers at the Ghent plant on Saturday, October 25.
