Düsseldorf; 18.06.2008 – Die NEC Deutschland GmbH gibt die Gründung des neuen, europaweit agierenden Geschäftsbereichs Identification Solutions Division (ISD) mit Hauptsitz in Düsseldorf bekannt. Der zentrale Anlass für seine Gründung ist der wachsende Bedarf an behördlicherseits eingesetzten biometrischen Lösungen in Europa. Der Fokus der neuen Abteilung besteht darin, vom Hauptstandort Düsseldorf und den Niederlassungen in London und Amsterdam aus sowie in Zusammenarbeit mit NEC-Töchtern, Partnern und Kunden für die Bereitstellung biometrischer Systeme in ganz Europa zu sorgen. Diese Systeme sollen im öffentlichen Bereich, von Strafverfolgungsbehörden, im Transportsektor sowie bei Grenzkontrollen eingesetzt werden.

Los nuevos compuestos LNP* Starflam* Xtreme de SABIC Innovative Plastics ofrecen un excelente comportamiento de inflamabilidad y, además, garantizan una alta rentabilidad
BERGEN OP ZOOM, Países Bajos – 17 de junio de 2008 – SABIC Innovative Plastics quiere ofrecer a los fabricantes de conectores y dispositivos eléctricos una alternativa a los tradicionales polímeros termoestables o polímeros especiales para altas temperaturas, una opción que sea más económica y que les aporte un excelente comportamiento de inflamabilidad. Por eso, hoy SABIC Innovative Plastics ha presentado la nueva línea de compuestos especiales LNP* Starflam* Xtreme. Estos materiales con base de poliamida (PA) pueden reducir los costes de sistema hasta un 20% con respecto a los polímeros termoestables, gracias a un aumento de la producción y a una menor duración de los ciclos de moldeado. Los nuevos compuestos LNP Starflam Xtreme, que incluyen calidades con retardante a la llama (FR) sin compuestos halogenados, son ideales para las aplicaciones eléctricas más exigentes, como los equipos de protección de circuitos o los contactores. Esta tecnología puede ser la solución para las elevadas temperaturas que se alcanzan en los procesos de soldadura sin plomo que se ve obligada a usar la industria eléctrica y electrónica debido a las exigencias de la directiva RoHS sobre la restricción de sustancias peligrosas. Con esta inversión en nuevos materiales de altas prestaciones y respetuosos con el medio ambiente, SABIC Innovative Plastics demuestra su voluntad de ayudar a sus clientes a optimizar el desarrollo de sus aplicaciones.

DSM DYNEEMA REVEALS NEW TECHNOLOGY PLATFORM FOR LIGHT-WEIGHT VEHICLE ARMOR OF THE FUTURE
URMOND (NL) – 16 June 2008 – At this year’s Eurosatory, the International Land, Airland, Homeland Defence Exhibition in Paris, 16 - 20 June 2008, DSM Dyneema announced its new technology platform that will extend the material choice for vehicle protection of the future. This follows DSM’s recent announcement of a 450 million USD investment in its Dyneema® business. This new technology platform is currently under evaluation for key vehicle protection programs before becoming commercially available. Products derived from it will allow armor designers and decision makers to balance the requirements for better performing vehicles, increased payloads, and room for future weight growth. In addition, they will address the need for better protection against the most dangerous and emerging threats today.

DSM DYNEEMA AND UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL MAASTRICHT COLLABORATE TO EXPLORE NEW SOLUTIONS FOR CORRECTING SPINAL DEFORMITIES
URMOND (NL), 18 June 2008 - DSM Dyneema and the university hospital Maastricht (azM), The Netherlands, today announced a joint agreement to conduct research into new solutions that can improve surgical outcomes for patients with spinal deformities. Combining the materials technology of DSM Dyneema with the clinical expertise of the university, this project aims to develop new solutions that support the trend toward minimally invasive procedures as well as the need for preservation of mobility. The project team will focus on leveraging Dyneema Purity®, an Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene fiber offering maximum strength and minimum weight, to enhance post-operative mobility and quality of life for surgery patients as a result. Furthermore, the high strength-to-weight ratio of Dyneema Purity® enables device miniaturization to support minimally invasive surgical techniques that promote faster recuperation and reduced scarring.

CHEMTURA RAISES PRICES ON PHOSPHATE ESTER FLAME RETARDANTS
Chemtura Corporation (NYSE:CEM) will increase prices on its range of core and performance phosphate ester flame retardants by 15% in all regions, effective June 16th, 2008, or as contract terms allow. This includes the Reofos® and Kronitex® brands.
