The new material, Total Petrochemicals’ Lumicene® M3382MZ polypropylene, produces thermoformed parts with superior clarity and gloss and excellent side wall stiffness. The resin is ideal for deli containers, drinking cups, lids, domes and food service trays when high clarity and stiffness are important. The combination of Milliken’s high-performance clarifier and Total’s proprietary metallocene technology will help drive expanded use of low-density PP as a cost-effective and environmentally responsible replacement for other clear plastic materials.

DSM INAUGURATES NEW PRODUCTION FACILITY FOR STANYL FORTII

DSM inaugurates new production facility for Stanyl® Fortii™ Royal DSM N.V., the global Life Sciences and Materials Sciences company headquartered in the Netherlands, has today inaugurated its new Stanyl® ForTii™ Production Unit. As announced in May 2009, the new facility has quadrupled production capacity for Stanyl ForTii in order to meet market demand for this new polymer, which is used in electronics and other applications. Stanyl ForTii was developed by DSM Engineering Plastics and is the first new polymer introduced in the last decade.
