PE100+ Association annual member meeting sets new direction
At the annual PE100+ Association member meeting on February 28, 2006 in Brussels, pipe business management of the seven member companies praised the achievements of the association in year 2005 and the image it has reached. The future direction of "Creating trust in high quality polyethylene (PE) pipes" was presented and well received by the members. "The industry appreciates the technical and promotion work of the PE100+ Association, which aims to create trust in high quality PE pipes - globally and in close co-operation with other associations" said Robin Bresser, the President of the PE100+ Association.

Jaws Meet Their Match in Badinotti Predator Nets Featuring Super-Strong Dyneema® Fiber
Urmond (NL), March 22 - Badinotti S.p.A., an Italian company well-known for excellence in aquaculture nets, has introduced a new predator net for rotection of farmed fish that is made with Dyneema® fiber from DSM Dyneema. The world’s strongest fiber, Dyneema® enables Badinotti’s predator nets to provide improved resistance to bites and damage from seals and seawolfs, compared to nets made from traditional nylon and polyester. The Dyneema® fiber offers an exceptionally low weight-to-strength ratio for reduced tension on mooring lines and easier handling. It also resists UV light and abrasion for extended useful life.

Borealis brings a new polypropylene Borpact™ grade to film converters and product manufacturers, which offers solutions to the packaging industry due to a unique combination of good low temperature resistance, high stiffness, high heat resistance plus excellent optical properties. Food packaging, pouches, peelable lidding film and film bottle labels are among the application areas set to benefit from Borpact BC914TF. With this development, polypropylene can be used in a number of new sectors, such as in labelling and modified atmospheric packaging (MAP) trays for meat and fruit. Insulating panels of polycarbonate twin-wall sheet filled with Nanogel™ translucent aerogel from Cabot offer superior thermal and sound insulation while at the same time providing even and pleasant “museum quality” diffused light. In a recent successful application, Nanogel filled PC panels were installed between two layers of hardened Profilit™ profiled glass to clad the walls on the front and rear of two upper storeys added to the historic Ibscherhaus in Munich, Germany.
