Vor allem in der Europäischen Union und im Großraum der Karibik haben Verbote von EPS-Verpackungen in letzter Zeit enorm an Dynamik gewonnen. Gesetze, die den Einsatz von EPS-Verpackungen verbieten, wurden auch auf Fidschi, den Philippinen und in Gegenden der Vereinigten Staaten erlassen, um nur einige zu nennen.
