Omron brings real-time EDGE-AI control to the factory floor
On stand B32 at this year’s PPMA show, Omron will showcase a new solution that adds artificial intelligence (AI) functionality to packaging and processing machinery for real-time control that provides an instant reduction in waste and machine downtime. The AI controller is based on a machine learning engine (MLE), which is incorporated into Omron’s Sysmac control platform (on both PLC and IPC) and monitors multiple signals simultaneously to detect potential anomalies (faults) and determine the appropriate response. The whole calculation can be accomplished in under a single machine cycle, minimising any disruption to the operation of the line.

Avery Dennison Corporation (NYSE:AVY) today announced the appointment of Pascale Wautelet as the global vice president of Research and Development (R&D) for its Label and Graphic Materials group, effective immediately. She succeeds Hassan H. Rmaile, who was promoted earlier in the year as vice president and general manager for Global Graphics and Reflective Solutions and vice president, Global Technology and Ventures for Avery Dennison.

Inbetriebnahme der weltweit ersten HPC-Ladesäulen von Tritium für IONITY in Deutschland
Amsterdam, Niederlande 2. Juli 2018: An den Raststätten Brohltal Ost und West der Autobahn Tank & Rast Gruppe GmbH & Co. KG zu beiden Seiten der A61 in Rheinland-Pfalz wurden die ersten zwölf High-Power-Charger (HPC) von Tritium in Betrieb genommen, dem international führenden Spezialisten im Bereich von Infrastrukturlösungen und DC-Ladesäulen für Elektrofahrzeuge (EV). Die zwölf Schnelllader sind Teil eines geplanten europaweiten Netzwerks von ca. 400 HPC-Stationen für IONITY, das dafür sorgen wird, dass EV-Besitzer im Bereich von 120 km immer eine Ladestation finden.
