Westfalia Fruit expands global convenience network with major new Peru production centre
Westfalia Fruit, a global leader in the avocado industry, has completed a major new convenience production centre in Peru, strengthening its ability to serve customers across Asia Pacific with both fresh and convenience formats throughout the year. Completed and accredited in June 2026, the site now supplies four regions from a single origin and completes a convenience network spanning four continents.
Peru is the world’s second-largest avocado exporter, and Westfalia Fruit is one of the largest avocado companies in the country, with a mango offering that supplies the market when other origins fall away. From the new site the company produces guacamole, smashed avocado, halves, slices, cubes and frozen avocado, alongside frozen and prepared mango, using individually quick frozen and high-pressure processing technology.
The Westfalia Fruit Convenience Production Centre serves Asia Pacific, North America, Europe and South America. Peru extends Westfalia Fruit's global convenience network, joining South Africa, Kenya, Belgium and the United Kingdom across four continents. "With Peru in place, we can support customers from origin in every region we serve, with the same products to the same standard wherever they are," said Koen Jansens, Global Convenience Director at Westfalia Fruit.
For customers in Asia, the significance lies in continuity. Peru anchors Westfalia Fruit’s supply into Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia, and the new centre allows convenience formats to be produced at origin and shipped into the region alongside fresh fruit. Combined with the company’s ripening expertise in market, this supports consistent quality and the right eating experience wherever the fruit is sold.
“This is one of the most significant investments in our history, and a clear statement of where Westfalia Fruit is heading,” says Chris Bush, Group CEO at Westfalia Fruit. “It enables us to better serve our customers and consumers across the world, strengthens the communities we work in, and reflects our purpose of doing good with every avocado.”
“Asian markets are growing quickly, and they are growing in different directions,” says Diego Vasquez, Asia Commercial Lead at Westfalia Fruit. “Producing at origin means our customers in Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia can work with one partner for both fresh and convenience, with supply that does not stop when a season ends.”
Westfalia Fruit will share more on its Convenience Production Centre, including its sustainability design and its role in the local community, at SIAL Paris in October.
