Omnexus light integration technology lauded as “best practice” at Enterprise Application Integration forum
Newest Tool, UltraLite, Eliminates “Double Entry” Requirement for Online Orders
ATLANTA (May 14, 2002) – UltraLite technology, developed by Omnexus for its global plastics eMarketplace, was the subject of the keynote presentation at the recent Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) Conference in Mainz, Germany. The presentation, delivered by Omnexus CTO Bill Murphy, highlighted the technology’s resolution of the double order entry obstacle faced by online buyers.
Created by several of the world’s largest plastics suppliers as a centralized e-commerce and information platform, Omnexus developed a light integration technology in response to a growing demand among plastics buyers wanting access to online procurement. The company’s new UltraLite technology enables companies of all sizes, with different capabilities or needs with regard to integration, to reap the benefits of eProcurement without the substantial cost and development time required for full integration.
The keynote presentation emphasized a major step forward in online order technology enabled by UltraLite: the elimination of double order entry. Buyers who previously had tried online ordering without first integrating with suppliers were often faced with the burdensome task of filling out orders multiple times: once in their own systems, and again online with each of their suppliers. UltraLite’s straightforward integration tools connect simultaneously with all Omnexus suppliers, automatically sending and recording an order in both the buyer’s and suppliers’ systems.
“The light integration technology of Omnexus UltraLite is the ideal solution to the issue of double entry,” said Murphy. “UltraLite is a flexible bridge to integration for any company to quickly and efficiently move their order systems’ output through the Internet. Omnexus was featured as the Integration’s Best Practice leader at the conference because of our innovative architecture, and UltraLite.”
Since its founding by Bayer, BASF, Dow, DuPont and Ticona, Omnexus has remained at the forefront of eBusiness. The company recently launched three new services accessible through its main Web site at www.omnexus.com: the surPLUS Center, a searchable catalog containing the listings of excess inventory from a variety of well-known, branded resin suppliers; the TechCenter, a global knowledge management system that puts plastics processors in direct contact with technical experts from multiple suppliers; and the Commerce Center, which provides a unique marketing channel for companies targeting the plastics industry to reach the more than 17,000 registered members of Omnexus
