Omnexus Launches User-Defined Enhancements
Omnexus, the global eMarketplace for the plastics industry has added further cutting edge functionality to its online transactional service. The new features, which were launched on 30 April for processors in USA, will be available to customers in Europe from 1 August, but to enable users to familiarise themselves with the advantages of these enhancements in advance of their introduction, a demonstration can be previewed at www.omnexus.com where the link is indicated on the home page. If preferred, the demonstration module is also available on CD and can be requested on-site.
Among the new functionalities is the ability to enter all the necessary order information on a single screen, the option to create ‘order templates’ to allow simplified re-ordering of frequently purchased materials, the ability to store and re-use previous orders, and the ability for buyers to track where each item is within the order process.
The consolidation of all order input data into a single screen has now created a simpler and faster one-step resin buying process, faster even than telephone or fax when ordering from multiple suppliers. The Omnexus value proposition has consistently focused on those processors who purchase from multiple suppliers, which comprises 84% of the resin-purchasing market. Through this one-step interface, orders can be placed with multiple suppliers using the existing prices already established with each supplier’s sales representative. Moreover, the possibility to establish and store order templates on-site, provides for further time saving and ease of completing repeat requests, as minimal data needs to be re-input for frequently supplied materials. The Omnexus site also offers a powerful Request for Quote (RFQ) function that allows processors to obtain pricing from more than 20 suppliers.
“These transactional enhancements have been stimulated by the requests and constructive feedback we have had from our members,” says Omnexus senior vice-president, David Jukes.
We welcome this dialogue because it ensures that we continue to develop services that meet the needs of users, in line with the way they do business.
“When these new features come online for our members in Europe we believe they will provide a useful complement to the site accessibility in French, German and Spanish that was added earlier this year.”
Online since October 2000, Omnexus provides a uniquely supported global e-marketplace in which customers are enabled to source products and transact business that encompasses resins, additives, colourants, compounds, tooling, equipment and all related services, with optimum speed and efficiency and the highest degree of confidence.
