New European military mobility platform will be presented
The Secure Digital Military Mobility System (SDMMS) consortium will conduct a comprehensive demonstration of its military mobility platform on October 22-24, 2025, in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. Capabilities of the platform will be presented to consortium members, Ministry of Defence representatives from participating nations, an expanded audience of NATO member states as well as other parties who have expressed strong interest in the platform's transformative potential for European military mobility.
The Secure Digital Military Mobility System (SDMMS) is a ground-breaking digital platform designed to transform military mobility across Europe and NATO. The platform addresses one of the most persistent challenges in defence cooperation: the time-consuming administrative processes required for cross-border movement of military personnel and assets. Today Cross-Border Movement Permission (CBMP) procedures in Europe require up to several weeks to process. SDMMS reduces this timeframe to 3-5 days while maintaining strict security standards.
The platform enables real-time coordination between defence ministries, secure multi-national data exchange and annual permission procedures. Built on Cybernetica’s proven in action Unified eXchange Platform (UXP), which supports e-governance already in 14 countries, SDMMS ensures modern cybersecurity, interoperability with existing military systems like LOGFAS EVE, and seamless operation across diverse technology environments.
The SDMMS Platform is developed by an industrial consortium of companies from 11 European countries, each contributing to its advancement. Led by the Estonian technology company Cybernetica and co-funded by the European Defence Fund, the consortium is going to demonstrate the platform’s abilities to various roles within the Ministries of Defence of the participating countries: Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Romania, Bulgaria, and Norway. Additionally, Belgium, France, Finland, Sweden, and the USA have expressed interest in attending as observing countries. This demonstration will serve as a critical testing phase before the platform reaches its final, market-ready state for adoption.
Arne Ansper, Cybernetica’s CTO, SDMMS Project Lead: ”At a time when Europe faces heightened geopolitical pressures, our new military mobility platform creates preconditions for easier and faster movement of military personnel and assets within the EU. By aligning with NATO standards and proven through real-world exercises, this platform helps to remove long-standing administrative barriers. And in today’s fast-changing security environment, modern, connected systems like this are essential to keeping Europe resilient.
