GE Power Conversion to Position Hornbeck’s Subsea Construction Vessels with Advanced DP Technology
PARIS - October 14, 2013 - Imagine holding a 100-meter long, subsea construction vessel in position as it lowers with its 250-ton crane, heavy subsea modules to the seabed. GE’s Power Conversion (NYSE: GE) takes the guess work out of complex dynamic positioning (DP) operations with its advanced human-machine interface (HMI) and returns ship control to the mariner, so skilled DP operators can once again focus on the task of ship handling. When the system is operating in its new “Energy Efficiency” mode, it offers the owner/operator reduced fuel consumption with the associated reduction in engine emissions continuing with GE’s global mission for a greener environment.

DSM partners with Petropol Polimeros to meet growing demand for Akulon polyamide 6 in South America
Royal DSM, the global Life Sciences and Materials Sciences Company, has signed an agreement with Petropol Polimeros, a leading engineering plastics compound producer in South America with more than 20 years' experience in engineering plastics. Under the terms of the agreement, which became effective on Oct 1st 2013, Petropol Polimeros will produce Akulon® polyamide 6 compounds, which DSM will market and sell to its customers throughout South America. Financial details were not released.

World's first PLA bioplastic touch screen computer from SUPLA and Kuender at K 2013, based on lactides from Corbion Purac
SUPLA, who announced plans for a 10 kT polymerization plant earlier this year, has developed optimized PLA (Poly Lactic Acid) compounds for the consumer electronics industry based on lactides from Corbion Purac. The launching application is the world's first bioplastic touch screen computer, developed in cooperation with Kuender, an OEM/ODM for many brand customers. The high gloss housing of this computer is made from high heat PLA. Corbion Purac, the global leader in lactic acid and lactides, will showcase this computer at K 2013.
