Corbion Purac at K 2013: unveiling PLA partnerships for new bioplastic applications
Gorinchem, 22 August 2013 - Corbion Purac bioplastics will be exhibiting at the K trade fair in Dusseldorf under the theme 'partnering for bioplastics growth'. To highlight the most recent developments in PLA (Poly Lactic Acid), Corbion Purac will be exhibiting a number of biobased applications resulting from numerous strategic partnerships. Songwon Industrial Group announces stable gross profit development for first half of 2013
Key Developments
- Sales and gross profit margin remain stable despite challenging market conditions
- Gross profit for the first half year increases 2.4% to 65,570 Mil. KRW compared to the same period in 2012. The adjusted gross profit encompassing capacity variances is significantly higher than in prior half year (+9.5%)
- Net profit for the first half of 2013 at 8,240 Mil. KRW reflects the solid gross profit performance offset by a range of factors, including increased investments in the expansion of the Group and in performance improvement measures leading to higher SG&A expenses, unfavorable FX impacts as well as higher tax expenses due to expected increasing profits in Korea.

Clariant signs long-term joint development and commercialization agreements with Lummus Novolen Technology on polypropylene catalyst
Muttenz, August 22, 2013 - Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, today announced that its Business Unit Catalysts has signed long-term cooperation agreements with CB&I's Lummus Novolen Technology GmbH business unit. The two companies will combine and ramp up R&D efforts to develop improved polypropylene catalyst and donor technologies. When successful, existing and future Lummus Novolen licensees and other polypropylene producers will be supplied with the new catalyst developed by a new state-of-the-art Ziegler-Natta polypropylene catalyst production line.
