CHICAGO – June 22, 2009 – SABIC Innovative Plastics is once again driving forward the development of eco-progressive materials as the race to replace finite resources, like petroleum with more impactful eco technologies, continues to accelerate. In its latest move, the company is helping customers create new sustainable solutions by delivering a first: two products in a new line of LNP* Thermocomp* specialty compounds that use curauá fiber and wood flour natural reinforcements. Ford has selected Arnitel TPC from DSM Engineering Plastics for the production of vacuum brake tubes for its recently launched new Ford Fiesta. In doing so, Ford has acknowledged the advantages of Arnitel for this specific application. DSM DYNEEMA LAUNCHES DYNEEMA® HB80 UD MATERIAL PROVIDING HIGHEST PROTECTION AT LIGHTEST WEIGHT IN ARMOR APPLICATIONS
McLEAN (VA), June 25, 2009 - DSM Dyneema today introduced Dyneema® HB80, a unidirectional (UD) composite that meets the joint US Army and Marine challenge to increase the fragmentation performance by at least 35 percent of advanced combat helmets. Dyneema® HB80 also has the potential to provide law enforcement SWAT units with helmets offering existing protection at half the current weight. It is the latest product in an expanding series of materials being developed by DSM Dyneema to substantially lighten the load for soldiers and law enforcement.
