Meeting high performance needs for HDTV
To meet the high performance requirements of HDTV camera systems, Belden has introduced Brilliance® 7804Ex. These hybrid fiber optical cables are designed to surmount over-heating problem experienced in outside HDTV broadcasting. This is particularly common with black cables in direct sunlight because their internal resistance can be reduced to below critical level causing the camera to shut down in case of short circuit.

Borealis announces new Executive Board structure

Borealis, a leading provider of innovative, value creating plastics solutions, announces the new structure of its Executive Board. On January 1, Mark Garrett officially took over from John Taylor as Chief Executive and Chairman of the Executive Board. He is joined by two long-time Borealis executives, Herbert Willerth, who will continue as Executive Vice President (EVP) of Operations and Henry Sperle, who, after many years running the Hydrocarbons business, takes on the new EVP position for the Middle East and Asia. The two new members who have recently joined the board are Martin Kuzaj, EVP of the newly formed Base Chemicals business group and Daniel J. Shook, Chief Financial Officer. Currently, the EVP position for the Polyolefins (PO) business group is vacant, and until a new executive is appointed, the Chief Executive will oversee this part of the organisation.

Rohm and Haas Opens Sanshui Manufacturing Facility in Guangdong, China
Shanghai, January 8, 2008 – Rohm and Haas Company (NYSE:ROH), the leading supplier of binders and additives for the global paint and coatings industry, today officially launched the initial operations of its new manufacturing plant in Sanshui, Guangdong Province, China. PPG completes acquisition of SigmaKalon Group
PITTSBURGH, Jan. 2, 2008 – PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) today announced that it had completed the acquisition of SigmaKalon Group, a worldwide coatings producer based in Uithoorn, Netherlands, from global private investment firm Bain Capital. The total transaction value, including assumed debt, was approximately €2.2 billion (US$3.2 billion). The company expects to add approximately $3 billion in sales annually as a result of the acquisition.
