ROHM AND HAAS AWARDED GRANT TO DEMONSTRATE NEW CATALYST TECHNOLOGY FOR BIODIESEL PRODUCTION
SHANGHAI, CHINA, November 1, 2007 -- Rohm and Haas was pleased to accept a grant in the amount of $752,000 through the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection's Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant Program. The grant supports Rohm and Haas's development of a newly commercial polymeric catalyst technology, AMBERLYST™ BD20 specialty catalyst. The AMBERLYST™ BD20 technology allows the production of biodiesel from inexpensive low-quality feed stocks without sacrificing the purity needed in the end product.

DSM Biomedical Chairs Session on Antimicrobial Surfaces at BioInterface 2007
SAN MATEO, Calif. – Oct. 31, 2007 – At the BioInterface 2007 Workshop and Symposium, Aylvin Dias, Ph.D, R&D program manager for DSM Biomedical, will chair a double session on antimicrobial surfaces with emphasis on biofilms, biofouling and biocidal approaches. This session will be attended by a number of industrial and academic opinion leaders to discuss the latest developments on and challenges to medical device associated infections. During the session, Dr. Dias will introduce ComfortCoat™, DSM’s new coating that addresses catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI).

DuPont Performance Elastomers (DPE) has announced that effective January 1, 2008, in order to serve its customers more effectively, DuPont™ Vamac® ethylene acrylic elastomers and Viton® fluoroelastomers will be combined within DPE. The new market-facing group, called V Solutions, will provide customers with a broader range of solutions, greater flexibility and improved efficiency when evaluating materials and developing solutions for sealing and hose applications.

SABIC Innovative Plastics Ramps up Lexan* Sheet Capacity to Address Growing Customer, Market Demand
Düsseldorf, Germany – Oct. 24, 2007 – SABIC Innovative Plastics is investing significantly to expand production of its Lexan* polycarbonate multi-wall and solid sheet products for the construction and industrial markets across Europe, Middle East and Africa. The company will add production lines in three locations – Vienna, Milan, and Bergen op Zoom – to meet growing demand for Lexan structural glazing, roofing, signage and other applications in Eastern Europe, Russia, and other locations. The new production lines are slated for completion by Q3 2008. Products will include Lexan Thermoclick*, Thermoroof* and Thermopanel* specialty sheet systems, as well as Lexan Thermoclear* multi-wall and Lexan solid sheet products.
