NEW THERMOPLASTIC COMPOSITE FROM QUADRANT EPP PROMISES ENGINEERING PLASTIC ADVANTAGES PLUS HIGHER LEVELS OF STRUCTURAL STRENGTH TO REPLACE METALS
Lenzburg, Switzerland – June, 2007 – Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products (Quadrant EPP) has developed new technology for incorporating glass fibre reinforcement within polymer matrices to greatly enhance structural strength of a variety of engineering plastics in sheet and thick plate form. Because of the rigidity improvement possible, the new thermoplastic composites (TPC) will open the advantages of engineering plastics over metals and thermosets to applications where structural strength was a limitation in the past, or where the thickness of material required was cost-prohibitive.

INJECTION MOULDED PASSENGER AIRBAG HOUSING FROM QUADRANT CMS SAVES WEIGHT AND COST
TIELT, BELGIUM – June, 2007 – Quadrant Creative Moulding & Systems (Quadrant CMS) of Tielt, Belgium, working in close co-operation with Tier-1 automotive supplier Autoliv, has developed a new, polyamide passenger airbag housing for use in vehicles based on the Volkswagen Golf platform. The housing, moulded from impact-modified polyamide 6 with 40 percent glass-fibre reinforcement, is just under half the weight of the original metal counterpart and provides considerable cost-of-manufacture savings. The part is being installed in vehicles such as the VW Golf, Audi A3, Seat Leon and Skoda Fabia since early 2007.

VORWERK GROUP PARTNERS WITH QUADRANT CMS FOR FUNCTIONALLY AESTHETIC VACUUM HOSE MODULE
TIELT, BELGIUM – June, 2007 – True to its vision of delivering a combination of product development, production and assembly from a single source, Quadrant Creative Moulding & Systems (Quadrant CMS) in Tielt, Belgium, has partnered German vacuum cleaner manufacturer Vorwerk in the design and manufacture of a new polymer-based vacuum hose module. The part, included on Vorwerk’s new “Tiger” vacuum cleaner which was launched globally in early 2007, delivers improvements in terms of functionality, handling and aesthetics.

Prior to this, as Vice President of Sales Excellence, he worked to achieve key growth objectives for Chemtura’s global sales organization.
