GE Plastics’ innovative materials and application developments for Medical Device Manufacturers on Display at Medica Düsseldorf
BERGEN OP ZOOM, THE NETHERLANDS — September 18, 2006 — GE Plastics will be showcasing some of their innovative materials and technologies for medical devices at Medica in Düsseldorf, Germany from Nov. 15-18 In hall 10, booth A56. GE Plastics will feature its new engineering thermoplastic material solutions demonstrating improved hemocompatibility1 for use in blood contact applications and devices requiring low protein binding, such as those found in several diagnostic or biopharmaceutical applications. ESTECH’s single-use ClearView MV™ Atrial Depressor utilizes GE’s advanced hemocompatible Lexan* to help achieve excellent device reliability and biocompatibility2 in minimally invasive mitral valve repair and replacement procedures. GE will also highlight other customers’ innovative devices, including MEGADYNE Electrosurgical E-Z Pen™, GE Healthcare’s Aisys® Carestation® anesthesia delivery system and several others.

Antioxidants Cooperation to End
Ulsan, Korea, September 15, 2006 - Songwon Industrial Co., Ltd. and Clariant International Ltd. (Muttenz, Switzerland) announced today that they mutually agreed to end their cooperation in antioxidants after many years of a successful partnership as of January 31, 2008. The decision follows as a result of a strategic re-orientation of both companies based on the global market development.

DSM to invest in new polymer plant in China to produce Akulon® PA6
Royal DSM N.V. today announces that it has decided to invest in a new facility at its Jiangyin site, Jiangsu province, to produce high viscosity grades of Akulon® polyamide 6 (PA6). The new plant is expected to come on stream in Q2 2008. The major proportion of the production is targeted at packaging film production companies in Asia-Pacific. The investment will amount to several tens of millions of USD.

• Borealis upgrades its European assets: inauguration of a 350,000 tonnes per year Borstar® polyethylene plant and expansion of an existing Borstar polypropylene plant from 210,00 to 300,000 tonnes per year in Schwechat (Austria)
• OMV and Borealis follow their integrated feedstock-olefins-polyolefins strategy: expansion of OMV (35% owner of Borealis) cracker in its Schwechat refinery to 900,000 tonnes per year
