Pipe industry benefits from unique Borealis injection moulding grade for PE100 fittings
Borealis has launched Borstar® HE3490-IM, a unique polyethylene (PE) grade specifically for the injection moulding of PE100 pressure pipe fittings. This solution provides the fitting manufacturers with a better alternative to the extrusion materials which they currently use – a material that combines the higher pressure performance of a PE100 material with the processing friendliness of a PE80. The whole value chain from fittings manufacturer to pipe producer, contractor and pipeline owner will benefit from the greater consistency in overall quality and performance achieved with this grade. Borstar HE3490-IM is available through Borouge, the distributor and marketer of Borealis’ speciality polyolefins in the Middle East and Asia Pacific.

GE Plastics Presents $25,000 to the Eindhoven University of Technology for Polymer Research
BERGEN OP ZOOM, THE NETHERLANDS — March 31, 2006 — In a ceremony at the TU/e on March 29, GE Plastics presented a donation of $25,000 to Prof. Dr. Piet Lemstra, senior professor for the Laboratory of Polymer Technology (SKT) in the Department for Chemical Engineering and Chemistry. The donation was presented on behalf of Dr. Theo Hoeks, principal scientist at GE Plastics in Bergen op Zoom, and a winner of GE’s prestigious Edison Award in 2005.

PARIS, França: 28 de março de 2006 – No JEC Composites Show, a Owens Corning (OWENQ.OB) anunciou a adição de uma nova linha de tecidos multi-axais de fibra de vidro em sua fábrica instalada na região norte de São Paulo, Brasil. Essa novidade segue outros dois principais anúncios da Owens Corning para o mercado de energia eólica: um investimento de capital na Índia para atender à crescente demanda de energia eólica do país e de novos tecidos multi-axiais e roving direto contínuo, WindStrand™. Essa é a primeira aplicação que utiliza a nova plataforma de reforço de alto desempenho, HiPer-tex™, da Owens Corning.
