Borealis promotes innovation in Italy’s utilities sector
The importance of reliable infrastructure in the supply and distribution of essential goods such as water and gas took centre stage at a workshop for the Italian pipe industry organised by Borealis in Genoa, Italy on February 3, 2006. In many European countries water loss due to leakage in the distribution network remains a significant problem. In the last few years the rate of loss has risen from 10 to 35 percent of the total volume of distributed water, the European Environment Agency reports.

Borealis evaluates possible closure of HDPE plant in Norway
In an extraordinary Board meeting in Borealis AS today, it was decided to inform the Borealis AS Supervisory Board in an extraordinary meeting February 13 about the ongoing evaluation of the future of the Borealis high density polyethylene (HDPE) plant in Bamble, Norway. A potential closure of the plant in 2006 is one of the options being considered.

GE and the City of Torino Unveil Monument in Piazza Solferino to Commemorate Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games
BERGEN OP ZOOM, THE NETHERLANDS — February 1, 2006 — GE, a worldwide partner of the Olympic Games, and the city of Torino today unveiled an Olympic-themed monument dedicated to the residents and visitors of the city for the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games. Torino Mayor Sergio Chiamparino and president of GE Italy Giuseppe Recchi attended the event at the GE Ice Plaza in Piazza Solferino, in the heart of Torino’s historic city center, where the structure will remain through the Games. DSM Dyneema Achieves ISO 13485 Certification for Dyneema® Purity Fiber Operations

Supplementing the ISO 9001 standard, ISO 13485 provides certification of a quality management system dedicated to medical devices.
