Borouge completes USD 40 million investment exercise to increase Polyethylene production capacity at Abu Dhabi facility to 580 kts per annum
Abu Dhabi & Singapore - Borouge announced today that its USD 40 million investment to expand the Polyethylene capacity of its USD 1.2 billion petrochemical complex in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 450 kilo tonnes (kts) to 580 kts per annum has been successfully completed in early March 2005.

Borealis increases European polyolefins prices
Borealis announced today that it will increase the price of its polyethylene and polypropylene plastics in Europe by EUR 70 and EUR 50 per tonne respectively as of April 1, 2005.

PE100+ Association’s Board of Directors re-elected
At the annual Member meeting on February 22nd 2005, the PE100+ Association elected Robin Bresser, Borealis Pipe Marketing Manager, as its new President. André Scheelen from BP, the previous President, decided not to stay in the Board of the Association but will keep an active role in the Member meeting. The member companies appreciated Andre Scheelen for his great contribution and leadership in the development of the Association since its foundation in 1999. Middlebury, CT and Indianapolis, IN, March 9, 2005 –Crompton Corporation (NYSE: CK) and Great Lakes Chemical Corporation (NYSE: GLK) announced today that they have entered into a definitive merger agreement for an all-stock merger transaction, which will create the third-largest publicly traded U.S. specialty chemicals company. The new company will have combined pro forma 2004 revenues of more than $4.1 billion and a market capitalization of nearly $3.2 billion. It will hold leading positions in high-value specialty chemical niche businesses including plastics additives, petroleum additives, flame retardants and pool chemicals. Additionally, the combined company will maintain strong positions in castable urethanes and crop protection chemicals.

GREAT LAKES INCREASES PRICES OF ALL BROMINE-BASED FLAME RETARDANTS
INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA—Great Lakes Chemical Corporation (NYSE:GLK) today announced it will increase prices worldwide on Firemaster® 550/552 flame retardants, Tetrabromophthalic anhydride and Tetrabromophthalic anhydride (PHT-4™) derivatives by $0.10/lb. Additionally, the company will increase prices on all other brominated flame retardants worldwide by up to 15%. These price increases are in addition to all other increases previously announced and will be effective for shipments beginning April 1, 2005, or as contracts allow.
