Erling Øverland moves from Vice Chairman to Chairman of the Board of Directors of Borealis, a leading provider of plastics solutions. Erling Øverland, an Executive Vice President on Statoil’s Executive Committee, has been Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Borealis since 2001.

Honeywell Enovate® 3000 blowing agent to be used by UK-Roofing and Cladding Manufacturer Steadman
Haasrode, Belgium, September 2nd , 2004 — Honeywell´s Enovate® 3000 blowing agent, a liquid hydrofluorocarbon used as a blowing agent for rigid insulating foams is now used by Steadman & Son Ltd. to manufacture foam insulation panels. Steadman, one of the longest established manufacturers of roofing and cladding systems in the UK, decided in favor of Enovate® 3000 because it fulfils the Montreal Protocol by not harming the ozone layer. In addition, the product is not flammable. This quality means that Enovate® easily meets the fire-resistant standards set by the U.K.’s Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB), a recognized independent quality certification board. Enovate® 3000 also provides superior insulation panel performance in comparison to competing products.

Novamont buys Eastman’s Eastar Bio® technology
Novamont S.p.A. and Eastman Chemical Company (NYSE:EMN) have announced the sale of Eastman’s Eastar Bio® copolyester business and technology platform to Novamont, a producer of biodegradable materials. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

GLCC LAUREL INCREASES SMOKE SUPPRESSANT AND SPECIALTY FLAME RETARDANT PRICES
INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA—GLCC Laurel, LLC today announced that the company will increase the global price for its smoke suppressant and specialty flame retardants product lines, where contracts allow, for shipments after September 15, 2004. The price will increase $.10 per lb. for zinc borate and ONGARD® 2 and ONCOR® 75RA smoke suppressants and $.20-$.30 per lb. for SMOKEBLOC® smoke suppressants.

New initiatives in wire & cable coating materials are announced by DSM Engineering Plastics, a business group within the DSM N.V. (Euronext Amsterdam:DSM) Performance Materials cluster.
