Toledo, Ohio, May 7, 2003 – Owens Corning and Saint-Gobain today announced plans to form a joint venture to construct a state-of-the-art, innovative manufacturing facility to deliver high-quality glass fiber reinforcements to the growing composites marketplace. The 50/50 joint venture will produce reinforcements to be sold in equal shares through Saint-Gobain Vetrotex and Owens Corning international sales networks. Production and delivery of product is planned for late 2004.
Langglasfaserverstärkte (LGF-) Kunststoffe sind bekannt für Festigkeit, Steifigkeit und geringes Gewicht – weniger jedoch für gutes Aussehen. Dies wird sich ändern. LNP Engineering Plastics, ein Unternehmen von GE Plastics (NYSE: GE), hat im Rahmen seiner Verton® LGF-Produktpalette eine Reihe von „Structural Aesthetic“ Compounds auf PA6-Basis eingeführt, die eine außergewöhnliche Kombination aus Festigkeit, Steifigkeit, Einfärbbarkeit und hochwertiger Oberflächenqualität bieten. Bis dato ist LNP der einzige Hersteller von LGF-Compounds mit derart ästhetischer Anmutung.
