Treat, Universidade da Califórnia, Santa Bárbara, EUA; e Dr. Sangwoo Lee, Universidade de Minnesota, EUA.Zurique, 31 de janeiro de 2013 – A Quadrant, uma empresa líder global na fabricação de termoplásticos e compósitos de alto desempenho, concedeu pela quinta vez o disputado “Prêmio Quadrant” internacional na sexta-feira, 25 de janeiro. A convocação internacional para o envio de inscrições para concorrer ao prêmio foi direcionada a acadêmicos que defenderam teses de doutorado na área de “Materiais e processos relacionados a engenharia, plásticos e compósitos de alto desempenho” entre 1º de outubro de 2010 e 30 de setembro de 2012. Dos quatro vencedores, o pesquisador japonês Dr. Nobuhiro Yanai recebeu o primeiro prêmio, de 15.000 euros. Ele defendeu sua tese na Universidade de Kyoto, Japão, e atualmente é professor assistente na Universidade de Kyushu, também no Japão. Os outros três vencedores do Prêmio Quadrant, que receberam prêmios no valor de 5.000 euros cada um, são (em ordem alfabética): Drª Shelby B. Hutchens (EUA), do Instituto de Tecnologia da Califórnia, pós-doutora na Universidade de Massachusetts Amherst, EUA; Dr. Sangwoo Lee (Coreia do Sul), da Universidade de Minnesota, pós-doutor na Universidade de Minnesota, EUA; e Dr. Neil D. Treat (EUA), da Universidade da Califórnia, Santa Bárbara, pós-doutor na Imperial College London, Reino Unido. A premiação ocorreu no Instituto Federal de Tecnologia da Suíça (ETH), Zurique, Suíça.
