Bergen op Zoom, Holanda – 21 de outubro de 2008 – À medida em que os fabricantes de automóveis avançam em direção à adoção mais ampla de materiais leves para painéis automotivos transparentes de policarbonato, a fim de melhorar a economia de combustível e a redução de emissões de CO2, a SABIC Innovative Plastics tem as respostas para os novos desafios de projeto e fabricação enfrentados pelos engenheiros automotivos. Através da empresa de painéis automotivos transparentes Exatec, está disponível uma variedade de soluções personalizadas que fornecem a mais ampla gama de tecnologias de painéis transparentes a montadoras e sistemistas. Isso inclui novas pesquisas sobre a abordagem em projetos de peças para otimização da performance do revestimento. Um estudo concluído recentemente no Centro de Excelência para Laminados Transparentes, em Bergen op Zoom, Holanda, revelou o efeito de diferentes perfis de transição (local em que a janela transparente de policarbonato encontra o material opaco de “black-out” total) na qualidade superficial de peças com revestimento rígido de silicone. Os resultados foram gerados usando-se uma nova ferramenta-protótipo de teto panorâmico (mostrada nesta nota) e indicaram os melhores projetos de transição para implementação pelos fornecedores, que levarão a uma melhor qualidade na aparência e a um melhor rendimento na fabricação de superfícies externas com revestimento de verniz ou plasma.

The contract ensures local logistics services for Borouge’s customers in Asia for ten years with effect of the start up date of Borouge 2 in 2010.

HELMETS FEATURING DYNEEMA® HB26 ARE CHOSEN BY SOUTH KOREAN ARMY AS LIGHTEST-WEIGHT SOLUTION FOR FRAGMENT PROTECTION
URMOND (NL), 20 October 2008 - To obtain the optimum combination of fragment-stopping performance and light weight, the Republic of Korea has selected protective helmets featuring Dyneema® HB26 material for its army. The 24,000 helmets, manufactured by Samyang Comtech in Seoul, offer up to 20 percent weight savings compared to conventional aramid helmets, together with a higher ballistics performance when using the v50 test. This significant program is a volume milestone for Dyneema® HB26 in a helmet application, and demonstrates the acceptance of the material based on its excellent fitness for use in helmets. To support growing demand for its ballistics protection materials, as evidenced by the South Korean Army’s large order, DSM Dyneema is on plan to significantly boost capacity for Dyneema® UD (unidirectional) composites used in life protection. Additional capacity in both yarn and UD (unidirectional) material has been brought on stream at its Greenville, North Carolina, facility. DSM Dyneema is on target to double global capacity for UD in 2009, as part of a USD $450 million investment announced earlier.

美國匹茲堡，2008年10月17日—PPG工業公司昨日報今年第三季度銷售額為42億美元，較去年同期增長37%。第三季度淨收入為1.17億美元，相當於每股0.7美元。去除特殊項目的調整後淨收入為2.27億美元，相當於每股1.37美元。
